Chinomso Nwozichi

President/CEO

Dr. Chinomso Nwozichi is a distinguished oncology nurse researcher, educator, and global health advocate with more than a decade of experience in cancer care, nursing education, and scholarly research. He holds a PhD in Nursing with a concentration in cancer care from Silliman University in the Philippines, a Master of Science in Medical-Surgical Nursing from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, and a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Babcock University in Nigeria. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), Dr. Nwozichi is also an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) and a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN). He has served in various academic and clinical capacities across Nigeria and the United States, including as Head of Department and Senior Lecturer at Olabisi Onabanjo University and as a Lecturer and graduate program coordinator at Babcock University. Clinically, he has worked in medical-surgical and oncology nursing roles in both Nigeria and the U.S., including at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in Texas. Dr. Nwozichi is the Founder and President of the Oncology Nursing Society of Nigeria and has held several influential leadership positions, including Vice President of the Mu Phi at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses in North America (SIENNA). His mentorship in oncology nursing has earned national recognition, including the 2025 Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award. His scholarly contributions include over 60 peer-reviewed publications, supervision of numerous master’s and doctoral theses, and presentations at international conferences. He has secured competitive funding for cancer care research and undergraduate research mentorship. Through his work in education, research, and advocacy, Dr. Nwozichi continues to advance culturally responsive oncology care, particularly for underserved populations

What is the Oncology Nursing Society of Nigeria (ONSN)?

ONSN is a professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in cancer care  across Nigeria. We strive to create a unified and growing community of oncology nurses through professional development, collaboration, and advocacy for high-quality cancer care.

ONSN was founded in 2018 and formally relaunched in June 2024.

 

Membership is open to registered nurses, student nurses, cancer survivors, cancer care advocates, and any individual or institution with an interest in the cancer space.

You can become a member by visiting our website and following the direct link to the registration page. Membership is on a yearly basis, with the following fees:

  • General Membership: ₦10,000
  • Student Membership: ₦5,000
  • Institutional Membership: ₦50,000
  • Diaspora Membership: ₦50,000

Members gain exclusive access to professional development programs, networking opportunities, and the latest research in oncology. You will also be part of a collective voice advocating for improved cancer care policies in Nigeria.
